We're looking for volunteers to join us at NAMI Washtenaw County's Water Stop for the Dexter-Ann Arbor Run! This will be a high-energy bonding experience for NAMI volunteers.
What's a "Water Stop?"
We'll have tables set up at Mile 11 of the race, with hundreds of cups filled with water and Gatorade. Volunteering will include an early morning arrival to help set up tables, mix gatorade and pre-fill cups.
As racers run by, we'll quickly pass cups, yelling "water!" "Gatorade!" Throughout the morning, waves of runners will come through, which will be a lot of fun! You may hear your name, as friends fly by! Racers will be super grateful to see our smiling faces, taking note that we're from NAMI.
The clean-up at the end will be super quick and easy.
What does this have to do with NAMI and mental health? Aside from being a great bonding experience for volunteers, having a Water Stop allows us to be a Charity Partner for DXA2. "What's that," you ask? Runners can donate to NAMI as they register online, or chat with our Outreach Team at the Race Expo. It's a fun way for the public to learn about NAMI! Every donation helps sustain our free programs, support groups, social clubs, and outreach efforts.
