Ever wonder if those smelly green things that stain the sidewalk are good for anything?
Join local Black farmer TC Collins as he leads a morning of black walnut harvesting in Ann Arbor.
We'll meet at 9:30AM on Wednesday at the County Farm Park in Ann Arbor off of Platt road. After harvesting there, we'll travel by car to other locations nearby. (We will not be meeting at the Growing Hope Farm.)
This outdoor volunteer activity will include picking fallen walnuts from the ground and loading them into bags to be processed later. TC will share his methods of preparing and using black walnuts along with some interesting facts and history.
Volunteers will need their own transportation. Carpooling is encouraged among people who feel comfortable.
- Snacks like water, cider, and donuts will be available.
- Gardening gloves will be available as well.
- Closed toed shoes are required.
- Please dress for the weather!
Please email Growing Hope's Farm Manager, Payton, for questions (or call between the hours of 9-5).
