In Miller Nature Area we see an area with great disturbance history—logging in the 1800s, farming in the early 20th century, gravel mining after 1950—as well as a more recent history of trash, yard waste, and other dumping. We also see an astonishing recovery—mature oaks and hickory, and thriving native jewelweed—after these disturbances, thanks to the dedication of Park Stewards and other volunteers who committed themselves to making a difference. We will be continuing the recovery efforts on #MakeaDifferenceDay by cutting and removing invasive shrubs. #MDDay Meet us at the Arborview Blvd. entrance, just east of Wildwood Ave. (map). Pre-registration through VolunteerHub is encouraged; please stay home if you are feeling ill. NAP continues to monitor recommendations from health officials, volunteers registered for events will be notified in advance of any changes to the workday. Please wear long pants and closed-toed shoes and bring a water bottle and leather gloves. All minors should be accompanied by a guardian. Tools and know-how provided.
