World Soil Day celebrates one of our most important resources to protect: soil! A wonderful place to experience the soothing hum of the Huron River and a refreshing walk to boot, Furstenberg is a park that has it all. Help us remove invasive shrubs from the sedge meadow to keep the riverside breeze flowing freely! Pre-registration through Rec-1 is required as space is limited. Participants must wear a mask and maintain a 6-ft distance from others at all times. Please wear long pants, closed-toed shoes, and leather work gloves. All minors should be accompanied by a guardian. Tools and know-how provided.

Inclement Weather Plan: We will still host the event if it’s raining, but we won’t work if there is thunder and/or lightening, or other dangerous conditions. It is unlikely that we will cancel the event altogether because often our thunderstorms are pretty quickly passing events. What usually happens is that we delay the start, take a break if it comes through mid-event, or end early if there are storms approaching towards the end of the event. Our workday leader will be keeping an eye on the weather throughout the event and support staff will be watching the radar remotely. If we do make a decision about delaying or cancelling prior to the event, someone will call you and follow up with an email. Otherwise, plan to join at the usual time and our workday leader will give you directions based on the evolving conditions.
