To support this work, United Way is seeking volunteers to deliver backpacks so that students are ready for the upcoming school year. United Way volunteers will be assembling over 6,000 backpacks for students in grades kindergarten through high school.

Volunteers are needed to deliver backpacks on Weds., August 5, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteers will be able to deliver to one of the following routes:

  • Western Wayne/Eastern Washtenaw counties
  • Oakland/Macomb counties
  • Detroit/Downriver

Volunteers will meet at Lincoln High School in Warren to assist with loading the delivery trucks and then follow the truck on their assigned route to 3-4 stops to help unload each delivery. Once all backpacks on the assigned route are delivered, volunteers are free to go home.
