Calendar Until Jun 3, 2026
Time Between 8:30am and 5pm when onsite

Description

Description & Core Responsibilities:

This internship will support an ongoing archiving project at WCHD by cataloging documents of historical significance. One of the primary goals of this internship is to identify and collect historical data relating to health equity to inform future equity efforts and the understanding of historical inequities in the County. This internship will also involve organization and documentation (development of a finding aid) of physical materials held by WCHD and by libraries/local historical societies. The intern will have the opportunity to create a product on a topic of interest identified through the project; that topic-based insight will support WCHD’s understanding of past trends and ground our work moving forward. Further, the intern will utilize archival findings to support the development of posters and presentations on topics relevant throughout public health history and our current moment for WCHD’s annual State of Our Health event.

Through this internship, the intern will learn about the role and responsibilities of local governmental public health now and throughout history. The intern will develop skills in detailed document review, organization, and archival best practices, supporting their competency in critical thinking. The intern will also practice self-directed learning with support from WCHD staff. Additionally, the intern will be invited to participate in biweekly intern cohort meetings with other interns working

at WCHD which will provide structured time to learn about and discuss current public health topics.

Responsibilities will include:
