Who We Are

We are a team of two who believes that every mother and family member of NICU patients should be provided with the resources to spend time with their child and maintain their own health. One of our founders, Sequoia, is a mother to Michael who was born at 26 weeks and remained in the NICU for 90 days. Looking back, Sequoia realizes the extent to which she struggled emotionally and physically with the postpartum state and how much support she needed. She would now like to give back to the community that supported her through a very uncertain and stressful time. In combination with her co-founder, Brigitte, she created Mothers Supporting Mothers to help make family’s time in the NICU easier by providing services so they can spend more time with their child. We are very thankful to the many mentors and supporters, including those at the Children's Hospital of Michigan Foundation and United Way for Southeastern Michigan, who continue to help make this vision happen.

What We Do

We supplement hospital services to fulfill the needs of Parents in the NICU and their transition out of the NICU for their own health and their child’s health. In partnership with hospitals in Metro Detroit, we will provide transportation, meal services, and support for families in the NICU so that families can spend more time with their children (patient in the NICU and children at home) and promote a healthy mental and physical state.
