Michigan Shakespeare Festival

Mission: To inspire and entertain diverse audiences with evocative, engaging, and epic productions of classical theatre’s greatest plays.

As the Official Shakespeare Festival of the State of Michigan, the Michigan Shakespeare Festival is a professional equity theatre company is dedicated to producing timeless classic plays interpreted to entertain and inspire diverse contemporary audiences. We are a collective of professional theatre artists from across Southeast Michigan, embedded in the community fabric, spreading the joy of classical theatre.

We run a professional theatre festival in southeast Michigan for 6 weeks every summer, drawing audiences from the tri-state area. We build our scenery, props, and costumes in Eastern Michigan University’s facilities. During our summer festival, we host performances in Jackson’s Potter Theatre and Canton’s Village Theatre.
