Who We Are

Mission: To provide life-changing, barrier-free camp experiences—always free of charge—for children with serious health challenges and their families.

North Star Reach is a medically-supported, cost-free camp located on 105 wooded acres in Pinckney, Michigan, bordered by two lakes and filled with possibility. We serve children with serious and life-altering health challenges who are often unable to attend traditional camps due to their medical needs. Our welcoming environment is designed to provide transformational experiences for children and families—nurturing joy, confidence, and connection. At the heart of our campus is The Observatory, a fully equipped health center staffed 24/7 by medical professionals from leading hospitals, allowing campers to safely receive individualized care while enjoying all that camp has to offer.

What We Do

North Star Reach provides barrier-free, fully accessible camp experiences for children living with chronic and complex medical conditions—at no cost to their families. Through summer sessions tailored to specific diagnoses, family camps, and year-round virtual programs, we create opportunities for healing, growth, and lifelong friendship. Campers participate in traditional camp activities—like swimming, canoeing, arts and crafts, and campfires—alongside peers who understand their unique journey. With a hospital just minutes away and an on-site team capable of delivering treatments like dialysis or chemotherapy, families are able to entrust us with their children, often for the first time. As part of the SeriousFun Children’s Network, founded by Paul Newman, we join a global movement to ensure all kids, regardless of health status, have the chance to just be kids.
