Who We Are
Mission: To support and empower children and families through inclusive, strength-based services.
Established in 1999, Hands Across The Water (HATW) is a Michigan-based non-profit organization. Over the past two decades, HATW has grown from a small team to an agency with 47 employees across two locations, serving over 1,200 individuals in 2021. Our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice guides our work as we strive to create a community where every child is valued and has a safe home and loving family where they can thrive.
What We Do
Hands Across The Water provides a wide range of services to support and empower children and families. We offer adoption services, including infant, waiting child, and international adoption programs, to connect children with loving homes. Our foster care program provides temporary care for children while working toward family reunification. We also offer family support services, such as training, events, and post-adoption resources, to strengthen family bonds. Additionally, our behavioral health services provide counseling and support to individuals, couples, and families, helping them navigate life’s challenges. Through these programs, we strive to create a community where every child has the opportunity to thrive in a safe and supportive environment.
