Who We Are

Mission: Project Healthy Community is a health and wellness nonprofit that provides school and community-based nutrition, fitness, and mental health education and services for Detroit kindergarteners through seniors.

What We Do

Project Healthy Community advances health equity in Detroit by combining education, access, and hands-on experiences to help families build lifelong healthy habits. Through school-based nutrition education for students in grades K–8, we teach children how to make balanced food choices, understand where their food comes from, and stay active. For adults, PHC offers nutrition and wellness programming focused on cooking skills, meal planning, and physical activity to prevent and manage chronic illness. At the same time, we fight food insecurity by bringing fresh, nutritious food directly to Detroit’s most vulnerable residents—ensuring families not only learn about healthy eating, but have consistent access to fruits and vegetables. By pairing education with direct food distribution, we create environments where making the healthy choice truly becomes the easy choice.
