Who We Are

The Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum (AAHOM) and Leslie Science & Nature Center (LSNC) (discoverscienceandnature.org) each served independently as educational anchors of Southeast Michigan for over 30 years, providing quality interactive and hands-on learning experiences for people of all ages. These rich individual histories have contributed greatly to our success as a unified organization since we formally merged in 2018.

What We Do

Our mission is to create moments of discovery that inspire curiosity, exploration and respect for STEAM and the natural world. We envision a world where curiosity today leads to more purposeful lives tomorrow. We advance our mission through interactive museum exhibits, wildlife and nature experiences, on-site field trips, off-site outreach programs, and award-winning nationwide distance-learning (videoconferencing) programs. We reach over 300,000 individuals annually across 50 U.S. states, three countries, and 81 of Michigan’s 83 counties. The marvels of science and nature, when presented through thoughtfully designed programs, locations, and exhibits, further our vision of a world where curiosity today leads to more purposeful lives tomorrow. We encourage participants to engage in ways relevant to their own personal interests, abilities, values, and communities.
