Peaceful Hugs

Mission: To help anyone in need with love, kindness, and non-judgment by providing support and resources for growth.

​Peaceful Hugs is a nonprofit organization founded by Mark Steven, who grew up on Detroit’s east side. Having experienced homelessness, violence, and personal loss, Steven was inspired to create an organization that offers support to individuals facing various challenges. Peaceful Hugs serves at-risk youth, single parents, seniors, and others in need, primarily in Macomb and Oakland counties, as well as throughout Michigan. The organization provides assistance in areas such as abuse, clothing, counseling, daycare, education, employment, financial services, food, housing, and transportation, aiming to support personal and professional growth regardless of where individuals are in their journey.

Peaceful Hugs fulfills its mission by providing a wide variety of support services. These services include:

• Basic needs assistance such as food, clothing, and housing
• Emotional and mental health support through counseling and crisis intervention
• Education and employment resources, including tutoring, training, and job placement
• Financial services like bill assistance and budgeting help
• Childcare and transportation support to remove barriers to stability
• Community outreach and partnerships to expand access to additional resources
