Who We Are
Mission: To promote the love of reading and celebrate books and connecting communities through literature!
What began as a local gathering quickly became Michigan’s largest book festival, attracting vendors from across the United States and Canada – Bookfest is to spark and deepen the public’s love of reading, celebrate Detroit’s rich literary culture, and bring together readers, writers, collectors, and families in a community event. Today it serves so many individuals – children through seniors -offering affordable books, author meet‑ups, and a fun atmosphere that turns Detroit into a way of literary discovery each year.
