Loaves and Fishes Ministries - Lansing

Mission: To provide short-term emergency and long-term transitional housing, advocacy and support services for homeless adults and children in a caring Christian environment.

Loaves and Fishes Ministries was established in the spring of 1981 as a short-term overnight homeless shelter. The founding group was guided by the lives and ministries of Mother Theresa, Gandhi and Jesus and their message of demonstrating God’s love through service. Loaves and Fishes Ministries maintains a foundational belief in the equality of all humanity and strives to provide clean and safe housing to all guests in a non judgmental and accepting atmosphere.

We offer emergency shelter for men and women as well as transitional housing for families and singles. Loaves and Fishes Ministries was created by volunteers and has been sustained for over 40 years primarily by volunteers working in partnership with our paid staff. Volunteers provide much of the direct contact and day-to-day service to our homeless guests and are an essential and vital part of our ministry. With our commitment to offer loving kindness, not religious conversion, guests feel welcome and respected as brothers and sisters.
