Middle Ground Haiti

Who We Are

Chronic hunger is an enormous problem plaguing Haitian families. More than one in ten children in Haiti are severely malnourished, and one in five is underweight. Middle Ground began in one woman’s home, feeding and nursing one sick child back to health. Word spread, and eventually this one room mission turned into a 21-bed inpatient facility staffed by 30 full-time Haitian staff, including Haitian doctors and nurses, social workers and support staff. While Middle Ground is based in Haiti, there are administrative support roles for this 501(c)3 within the US.

What We Do

Middle Ground is an inpatient malnutrition and family sustainability center in Haiti. We strive to not only offer intervention through emergency treatment of severe malnutrition, but also offer opportunities for families to provide for their children once they return home. Through sustainability and education groups such as nutrition classes, business, agriculture and livestock programs, we aim to address the root causes of poverty and hunger.
