Who We Are
Packing the potential to transform home cooking and fuel local agriculture in Manchester Michigan - Acorn Farmers' Market and Cafe' is a new non-profit organization formed in response to the closure of the local grocery store. Our mission is to model a community-driven market that provides access to fresh food and supports the economic viability of area farmers by promoting education, collaboration, and entrepreneurship.
What We Do
Acorn Farmers’ Market and Cafe will be a neighborhood store selling locally-sourced meat, dairy, and produce, baked goods, freshly prepared ready-to-eat foods, and healthy beverages. Acorn’s meat and produce will be provided on consignment by local farmers, and a small cafe will bring additional revenue to offset overhead costs. Programs promoting community engagement and sustainable entrepreneurship will be funded through gifts, grants and donations. Our business model is inspired by Argus Farm Stop, an L3C in Ann Arbor, and The Wild Ramp, a non-profit market in Huntington, WV.
