Mission: To leverage service and volunteerism to address Michigan’s most pressing challenges, strengthen communities, and foster civic engagement across the state.
The Michigan Community Service Commission (MCSC), established in 1991 through the Michigan Office of the Governor, serves as the state’s lead agency for volunteerism. Guided by a Governor-appointed board representing the diversity of Michigan, we catalyze innovation and empower volunteers to create meaningful change in their communities. Through initiatives like Michigan’s AmeriCorps, Mentor Michigan+, Volunteer Michigan, and the Governor’s Service Awards, we build a stronger Michigan by promoting civic engagement and addressing critical issues.
