Ann Arbor Community for Traditional Music and Dance

Mission: To enrich people’s lives and sense of community through traditional music, dance, song, and related arts.

The Ann Arbor Community for Traditional Music and Dance (AACTMAD) is a nonprofit, participatory membership organization. Founded over 40 years ago, AACTMAD brings together people who share a passion for preserving and celebrating these time-honored traditions.

As a volunteer-driven organization, AACTMAD thrives on the dedication, energy, and creativity of its members. Our board of directors ensures the long-term vision of AACTMAD, while committees work to organize events and maintain a welcoming and safe atmosphere for all participants.

AACTMAD is proud to be a Group Affiliate of the Country Dance and Song Society and a founding member of Folk Alliance International. We invite you to join us in celebrating and preserving the vibrant traditions of folk music and dance.

We organize and sponsor over 100 traditional music and dance events each year that welcome the public. Our members actively learn and preserve many different types of traditional music and dance. With over 200 members, mostly in SE Michigan, we also support the traditional music and dance community as a whole, throughout Michigan.
