The Family Learning Institute (FLI) is seeking adult volunteer tutors  to work with students in grades 2 - 5.

FLI tutoring happens both in-person and virtual, with on-line Zoom meetings and Google classroom curriculum.

Tutoring happens for at least one hour, each week, after school. The commitment begins in October and ends in May.

- It is nearly a full school year.

Every year, FLI helps elementary school students improve their reading comprehension and critical thinking.

Students are from economically disadvantaged households in Washtenaw County.

The key is individualized tutoring.   Volunteer tutors provide the students with individual attention and a mentor type relationship.

FLI tutoring focuses on building academic skills.  FLI programs meet weekly during the school year.

Students are enrolled by referral from educators and parents. FLI also provides academic tutoring for local summer programs. 

Reading (literacy) tutoring occurs for 1-hour sessions on Monday - Thursdays between 4:00 - 6:00 pm, during the school year. Tutoring usually happens at the FLI office and in a variety of local school sites and community locations in Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor.  There are also some day time tutoring opportunities during the summer months. 

Holidays and days off follow the Ann Arbor Public School calendar.

Can't make a weekly commitment? No worries! We always need substitutes!

FLI believes students can develop the skills that they need to build the lives they dream. 

 

We are looking for people with experience or drive to do direct solicitations, managing fundraising campaigns, grant writing, and planning fundraising events. 

Fundraising is a critical need for A Brighter Way.

The Westside Farmers’ Market is seeking an intern, passionate about great food, to assist in promoting the advantages of shopping locally from our broad array of dedicated farmers and producers. The intern will be responsible for developing a weekly blog and email newsletter to keep our shoppers informed about the activities and products available each week. The Market manager will facilitate farm visits, vendor interviews or other activities to assist in creatively promoting the Market.

Duties and Responsibilities

Develop a weekly Market e-newsletter and blog post Assist in writing grants for additional Market support Identify creative methods for promoting the Market to all the community
