Volunteer: Party Planner in a Box REMOTE

PURPOSE OF JOB: Plan party theme and purchase party supplies for children living at an emergency shelter. Able to raise or provide own funds to purchase party supplies.

 

TIME COMMITMENT REQUIRED2 HOURS including:

Plan party theme, decorations, and activities (i.e. Space Exploration, Beach Bash, Sports, or Art Extravaganza) Plan small bags of party favors (no food or candy may be in these bags for safety) Estimate expenses and collect funds Purchase supplies for: Party decorations. Room in which party will take place has three long 6 ft tables and one round table if wanting to buy table coverings. Party activity supplies, enough for 20 children. Party favor bag supplies, enough for 20 children. Assemble party favor bags. Put all party supplies into one box. Email to arrange box pick-up

Kits and backpacks will go to either youth, families, or adults served by our Housing Services or school-based whole family support services. Volunteer needs to be able to raise or provide own funds to purchase supplies.

Put supplies into the bag Email to arrange kit pick-up or drop-off

Wayne Metro is recuiting two Volunteer positions for Income Tax Preparation. Both are at locations across Wayne County.

Greeter: Provide a welcoming greeting to tax prepartion clients and check to make sure they have needed documents. Maintain client confidentiality. Time Commitment: 12 hours Total (6 hour training required + 6 hour minimum time volunteering).

Tax Preparer: Provide Taxpayers with accurate, quality Tax Prep services as part of a team. All forms completed will undergo a multi-step review by Wayne Metro employees. Maintain client confidentiality. Time commitment: 24 hours Total (6 hour training, 6 hour IRS Certification training, and 12 hour minimum time volunteering).

Purchase supplies: 1 laundry basket 1 container laundry soap 1 bottle dish soap 4 bath towels and 4 wash cloths Family size each of shampoo, conditioner and body soap/wash Optional supplies that could also be purchased: feminine hygiene products, products for African-American hair, deodorant Put all supplies into the one laundry basket. Call to arrange basket pick-up
