As a volunteer receptionist, you will greet visitors, thank donors and do light clerical tasks.  This is a great way for community members to become involved in our work on a low-key scale. Training will be provided in person and on self-paced videos. Receptionists are asked to make a weekly commitment (three to four hours) during regular business hours (Monday-Friday, 9am – 4pm). We encourage all volunteers to stay in their roles for up to 6 months.

The Gift of Life Campus Ambassador Program enlists students like you for an internship to run cheek swab drives on your campus. By reaching out to your friends, clubs and campus organizations you’re involved with, you have the potential to invite many new donors to join the registry – any one of whom could save a life. It’s a pretty sweet gig. Hang out with your friends, make a difference in the world.

As a program participant, you will join an elite group of more than 300 leaders on college campuses across the country. You will be encouraged to partner with other campus organizations, administration and events to increase your outreach. By getting involved with Gift of Life you’ll become a change maker and enhance your leadership, marketing, and communication skills. Nothing is more exciting than when you get that first email that a donor you swabbed has saved someone’s life!

In a nutshell: Our Corner Store Volunteers help connect patrons to much-needed resources, including fresh food, hygiene and household items, and more! The Corner Store, located in the basement, is a free resource for both Corner patients and the community, at large. The Corner Store Volunteer will manage the overall functioning of the Corner Store during their shift.

Time Commitment:

At least 3 hrs/wk. This is a weekly shift – the same day and time each week – ideally with intention of staying for at least 6 weeks. *We are not open on weekends.

Duties: Tasks may vary depending on which shift is being worked.

A Child Passenger Safety Advocate is a passionate and dedicated individual committed to promoting and ensuring the safety of children during car travel. They play a vital role in raising awareness about the importance of proper car seat usage and advocating for best practices in child passenger safety. These advocates are knowledgeable about car seat installation, age-appropriate restraints, and the latest safety guidelines. They work closely with parents, caregivers, and community organizations to provide education, resources, and support, empowering them to make informed decisions to protect their children. Child Passenger Safety Advocates strive to create a safer environment for all children on the road, reducing the risk of injuries and saving lives.

Conversations to Remember is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, dedicated towards combating loneliness and isolation felt by senior citizens. Our virtual visit program matches 2-3 college students with residents of long-term care, assisted living, and memory care communities for virtual video visits. These residents have been suffering from isolation, and you could really brighten their days just by speaking with them. We provide training about the best ways to interact with the seniors, as well as additional support throughout our volunteers' service. Since these visits are virtual, you can do it without any travel. This is both convenient, and allows more time to be spent volunteering, rather than commuting to the volunteering location. We provide this program free of charge to seniors across the country, and have students from around the country as well. 

Typically, students volunteer 1-2 hours per week. Each call lasts up to one hour, based on the senior's attention span and mood on each day. We expect students to volunteer for approximately 16 weeks, so that they can build a friendship with the senior. This does not need to coincide with the start of a semester, as we have new seniors starting all the time, and train new volunteers weekly. The students are matched based on the times that they're available, with a senior who is available at the same time, and they will have a regular, weekly appointment for their visit. Students wishing for more visits or other opportunities that allow them to volunteer more hours can be accommodated with different ways to volunteer, such as assisting us with our social media, call support, or outreach.

We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers for our programs, particularly Mentorship program. The mentors will be paired with women above 18 seeking employment or currently employed. The mentors will meet their mentees for at least two hours per week to talk about careers, relationship, hardship faced by mentees and also do fun and engaging activities together. As a mentor you will receive training to prepare you for this role.

Roles & Responsibilities:
* Must be comfortable talking about issues such a race, religion, culture, socioeconomic status, academics, health, relationships, community engagement etc.

Detroit VITALS (Virtual Intersystem Telemedicine and Lifestyle Services) free clinic is seeking volunteers to apply for the Board of Directors Treasurer position for our organization!  

The Treasurer shall be a director of the free clinic and shall report the clinic financial status to the Board of Directors at each regular meeting. The Treasurer shall work closely with any board or committee member of Detroit VITALS to ascertain that the appropriate procedures are being followed in the financial affairs of the Corporation. The Treasurer shall perform such other duties as requested and assigned by the Board of Directors such as managing the Board’s review of, and action related to, the board’s financial responsibilities, managing the finances of Detroit VITALS, administration of fiscal matters for Detroit VITALS and providing the annual budget to the Board for approval. The Treasurer is also responsible for providing the Board with reports regarding key financial events, trends, concerns, and assessment of fiscal health.  The Treasurer will also recommend to the board whether the organization should have an audit, and if so, will select and meet with the auditor.

Lastly, if the Board President, Vice President and Secretary are unable to perform the duties of the Board President the Treasurer shall assume the role of Board President. Term limits will likely initially be one to three years. We are looking for persons with one of the following: extensive leadership experience, demonstrated success as a committee chair or board member, and/or experience in building nonprofit sectors.

All board of directors will be expected to follow the organization’s bylaws, policies, and board resolutions.  They will also be required to sign an annual conflict-of-interest disclosure and update it during the year if necessary, as well as disclose potential conflicts before meetings and actual conflicts during meetings.  Lastly, all board of directors will be required to maintain confidentiality about all internal matters of Detroit VITALS free clinic.

We are looking for any and all individuals to assist in the creation of a novel new Telemedicine Project called Detroit VITALS free clinic (Virtual Intersystem Telemedicine And Lifestyle Services)!  

We are looking for any and all level of interest at this point and from any/all career perspectives ranging from Social Work, Information technology to Health care and Allied professions.  We are very much looking for other Physicians and Health Providers who may be interested in volunteering for a few hours or more a month from the safety of your home!  We are also strongly interested in Social workers and Mental health therapists or Psychiatrists.  All appointments, meetings and interventions will be done online and can be done from the safety of your home.  Safety is our number one priority while still providing access to Healthcare. 

At Detroit VITALS, we believe Healthcare is not a privilege but a right and we need your help to make this a reality!! 

Our goal will be to start providing primary care and limited specialty services by the end of winter of 2022 to persons without health insurance in Wayne, Washtenaw and Oakland counties (Metro-Detroit).  We will start teaching and working with volunteers likely prior to the end of 2022.  

Shifts are still being worked out in conjunction with operating hours which are subject to change.  Currently, there will be expected 1 shift per month and 1 shift as a back up person.  Tentatively the clinic (when open) will be seeing patients from 5 pm to 8 pm hours Tuesday thru Thursday (3 hour shifts).

Hello and welcome to the Detroit VITALS (Virtual Intersystem Telemedicine And Lifestyle Services) project!  

We are working with our planning committee to begin possibly the first ever Telemedicine based (online only) free clinic  and are looking for anyone interested in helping! We are looking to get the clinic operational by the end of the winter of 2022 and are looking for volunteers to help us make this a reality.

We will continue to be holding weekly meetings at Wednesday evenings on Zoom to create content and plan for the grand opening of the Detroit VITALS free telemedicine clinic!  General planning committee meetings will be one hour per week and members will be expected hour contributions are 3-5 hours per week on average currently with select committees (Networking, Educational Content, Workflow, Social Media, Website development, Advertising and Human resources/volunteer management).  

We are looking for anyone interested in assisting in helping plan out and develop plans/strategies for the new clinic as we get the clinic off the ground (goal Winter of 2022).

This program is a partnership with St. Joseph Mercy Cancer Care Center in Ann Arbor and the American Cancer Society. Volunteers will spend time in the cancer center talking with patients and families spreading the word about services offered by CSC and other support available through the health system. Volunteers will be trained and will be able to answer questions and provide tours of the Cancer Center.

We're looking for RDMS's and nurses or other medical professionals trained in 1st and 2nd trimester pregnancy ultrasounds. 

We're looking for anyone with mental health licensing to help our patients talk through their unplanned pregnancies.

We are a small, faith-based non-profit working to alleviate severe acute malnutrition— and address some of the causes that lead to it— in the country of Haiti. We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Social Media/Marketing intern who can help us communicate and connect with our donor base, which is primarily in the U.S. This position will be fully remote and can be done from anywhere that has reliable internet access. Hours are flexible (you can work on your own schedule), but ideally we’re looking for a commitment of 5-10 hours per week for a minimum of 3 months. .

As a nonprofit organization working internationally, most of our donors will never have the opportunity to see our mission in person, so it’s vitally important to make sure that our supporters are involved and kept up to date on what is happening on the ground in Haiti. Social media has become our main form of communication with our donors to share stories and raise money to fund our programs. Scleroderma Foundation Michigan Chapter is looking for someone to assist with writing blogs that would live on our website. These would be educational and informative to the persons living with scleroderma, to caregivers and to family members. They could include health topics, nutritional topics, insurance topics and mental health topics.

The senior citizen residents of the Village of Oakman Manor needs volunteer help in managing their community garden! Volunteers will help residents tend the garden, maintain it, and harvest once produce is ripe. The garden provides residents with fresh, accessible, and local-grown produce.
