VOLUNTEER AT OUR URBAN FARM!
We couldn’t do the work that we do without YOU. Get involved with Growing Hope by volunteering at the Growing Hope Urban Farm. Growing Hope fosters an equitable and sustainable local food system where all people are empowered to grow, sell, buy, prepare, and eat nourishing food.
We support people of all ages to grow, prepare, and eat nourishing food through hands-on educational opportunities at our urban farm and in the community. Through workshops, trainings, and field trips, we educate youth, adults, and seniors who have a range of gardening experience and skills. We are also active in school, community, and home gardens throughout Ypsilanti.
For your safety and that of our staff at Growing Hope, here are a few safety protocols we have in place for volunteering.
We will have hand-washing and hand-sanitizer available for use in our outside spaces. Please wear a mask or face covering when you get here, and be prepared to wear it throughout the volunteer shift. We will also be maintaining social distancing of 6 ft for more throughout the shift. We will start our day with Covid-19 screening questions, following by a temperature check. If you have been in contact with someone who has potentially been exposed to Covid-19, or you have any symptoms, we ask you to stay home and join us another day.
In addition to warm clothes and rain gear, make sure to wear clothes that can get dirty and comfortable close-toed shoes.Please also bring your own water and snacks to make sure you stay hydrated and happy!
As always, Growing Hope strives to be a welcoming, accessible, and safe space for all. We ask that you do not wear strong scents to our space or use scented products while you are here. Please also let us know if there are accommodations you need to work comfortably, and we can work with you to make volunteering a great experience.
