Organization Overview: Midcourse Correction is a nonprofit working with at-risk youth. Our Challenge Camp is a military structured sacred straight program that incorporates mentorship. We are a weekend program for 11-18 year olds.
Position Overview: The development intern will gain hands-on experience in non profit development, staff and volunteer management by supporting fundraising, grand development, and organizational capacity-building efforts. They will research and assist with grant proposals, supporting donor outreach and sponsorship development, and contributing to fundraising initiatives. The intern will also help strengthen organizational infrastructure by developing employee and volunteer training materials, onboarding resources and program manuals. This internship is sponsored by the Community-Based Internship Fund at U-M’s Ginsberg Center. As part of this internship, you will complete training and advising with Ginsberg Center staff to support professional development.
Core Responsibilities: Research potential grant opportunities and identify funding sources that align with Midcourse’s mission and needs. Monitor grant deadlines and funding cycles and maintain accurate records of opportunities, requirements, and application status. Assist with researching, drafting, and organizing grant proposals and supporting application materials. Assist with donor communications, fundraising initiatives, and other sustainability efforts.
Qualifications/experience: Required Qualifications: Must be 21 years of age or older. Must successfully pass a criminal background check. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently while also collaborating as part of a team. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Preferred Qualifications: Interest in nonprofit, fundraising, communications
Experience or interest in grant writing, fundraising, marketing, or volunteer management. Experience working with children, youth, or families is a plus. Passion for serving youth.
Eligibility: This position is open to Undergraduate, Masters and PhD-level students.
Timeline/Schedule: 8-10 hours per week September 2026 - April 2027
Compensation Information: This internship is sponsored by Ginsberg Centers CBI Fund. Once selected this intern will be hired and paid by the Ginsberg Center. $17/hr - undergraduate students $19/hr - masters students $21/hr - doctoral students.
