Internship Title: Program Operations Intern, Next Level Scholars 


ORGANIZATION NAME: Next Level Scholars / Detroit Regional Dollars for Scholars


Organization Overview:Next Level Scholars is a college access and success organization that works with first generation college students with high financial need to inspire and prepare them to achieve post-secondary success.


Position Overview: The intern will support the organization’s 2026 & 2027 strategic initiatives, with a focus on project management, program evaluation, organizational systems, and cross-functional collaboration. They will research program evaluation practices and help develop an evaluation plan, assist with implementing Paycor and strengthening HR systems, and support communications planning and projects that require coordination across program, operations, and communications teams. The intern will also gain hands-on experience supporting field trip workshops, analyzing participant survey feedback, and contributing to administrative projects that help the organization operate more effectively.


This internship is sponsored by the Community-Based Internship Fund at U-M’s Ginsberg Center. As part of this internship, you will complete training and advising with Ginsberg Center staff to support professional development.


Core Responsibilities

  • Support grant writing efforts; help develop next steps for a formal program evaluation plan.

  • Assist with Paycor setup and other HR tools

  • Support social media and communications planning 

  • Assist with field trip, workshop, events and other programing activities as needed

  • Review and synthesize survey feedback and organize resources

  • Create plan for external program evaluation with support from Program Leadership



Preferred qualifications/experience

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects at once

  • Interest in nonprofit operations, program evaluation, or HR systems

  • Comfortable interacting with high school and college students 

  • Strong written communication skills (for grant writing and social media support)

  • Comfortable working with spreadsheets/databases (Excel or Google Sheets)

  • Drivers license and ability to drive to office (Plymouth, MI) and metro Detroit field trips


Eligibility

This position is open to Undergraduate,Masters and PhD-level students


Timeline/Schedule

8-10 hours per week September 2026 - April 2027

  • 9/24 - MSU Campus Visit

  • 10/27 - Apply College Fair at Henry Ford College

  • 11/19 - Schoolcraft College Campus Visit

  • 12/15 - Empowered Workshop at Washtenaw Community College

  • 2/2 - Project Runway Workshop at EMU

  • 2/24 - SAT Prep at UofM Dearborn

  • 3/10 - Celebration Luncheon at UDM

  • 4/19 & 4/20 - Campus Visit to Wayne State University

  • 4/30 - College Decision Day at EMU


Compensation Information

This internship is sponsored by Ginsberg Centers CBI Fund. Once selected this intern will be hired and paid by the Ginsberg Center.

$17/hr - undergraduate students

$19/hr - masters students

$21/hr - doctoral students
