Volunteer: Virtual and In-Person Literacy Mentoring

We’re recruiting Virtual and In-Person Literacy Mentors!

Our Mentor Family is the foundation of our organization. Our team works closely alongside you to ensure that we support the bright futures of our students. The Center for Success Network is looking for people who love children and have a willingness to share time and joy with our staff and students as a virtual literacy mentor.

Requirements:
- 90 Minute Training Session
- 2-hour virtual Mentoring for Equity workshop
- Minimum commitment of one session weekly through the full program year
- Service commitment through the entire Academic School Year (October- May)
- A Background Check
- High School Juniors and Seniors are also eligible to become mentors, but must have 2 non-family references

Sessions are literacy focused and include time to build relationships with their students. Mentoring sessions will be 30-45 minutes long for virtual sessions and 1 hour for in-person sessions. These sessions will include 4 parts: energize and goal setting, reading a book, literacy activity, and closing and reflection. Our experienced staff are present the entire session in case a mentor has a question or needs some assistance.

We value our family of volunteers to support various aspects of CFSN programs and events. Our Team is looking for classroom volunteers to support in-person activities in our Detroit and/or Pontiac location. If you love children and have a willingness to share time and joy with our staff and students, we'd love to hear from you!

- Background Check (Volunteers over the age of 18)
- 2 Non-Family references (Volunteers under the age of 18)
- Minimum Service 1 day a week (M-Th); 2.5 hours (4:00-6:30 pm for school year)
