Who Should Apply

You believe everyone deserves to understand their health and navigate the healthcare system. You want to help build a strong, sustainable nonprofit, not just serve on one. You're energized by early-stage work where your contributions directly shape what we become. You care about creating an organization that's effective and a good environment for everyone involved.

We're committed to making this role accessible. Meetings are virtual, scheduled by poll, and materials are provided in advance. We offer flexibility in how and when people contribute. If you need accommodations to participate fully, we'll work with you.


What Board Members Do Attend quarterly board meetings (4 per year, 90 minutes each) Review materials before meetings and come prepared Participate in email votes and respond to communications promptly Take on tasks and projects in your area of strength between meetings Share your professional expertise and provide strategic guidance Review financial reports and help approve annual budgets Make an annual financial contribution commensurate with your means Help identify funding opportunities through your networks Promote HealthEd's mission in your professional and personal networks Complete annual conflict of interest disclosure and maintain confidentiality


How You Might Contribute

We're seeking board members with a range of backgrounds. When you join, we'll talk about where your skills and interests fit best.

Highest Need: Finance & Legal — financial oversight, budgeting, reporting Governance & Leadership — board development, recruitment, organizational systems Fundraising & Outreach — donor relationships, funder introductions, campaign strategy Also Needed: Marketing & Communications Community Engagement & Advocacy Equity & Inclusion Program & Mission Expertise


Time Commitment

Board members serve 2-year renewable terms. Expect approximately 3-4 hours per month, including:

Quarterly board meetings (90 minutes each) 2-3 hours per month on committee/project work, fundraising, and ambassador activities Annual conflict of interest disclosure

Who hasn't felt confused about their health at some point? Or needed help navigating the health system or advocating for care? HealthEd 4 Everyone creates free resources to support people when faced with questions like these.

Our social media accounts make this information accessible to more people. Your help designing posts will help us better communicate accurate, reliable health information that can make a real difference in someone's life.

We're looking for someone who can bring fresh ideas and skills to help us improve how we show up on social media. See what we're currently doing: @healthed4everyone on Instagram, Facebook, and Bluesky.

What You'll Do Create content for Instagram, Facebook, and Bluesky based on material we provideThis could include graphics, illustrations, short videos, or reels! Let us know your skills and interestsUse Canva templates we provide, or pitch your own creative directionSubmit your work for review before postingOptional: Suggest content ideas and ways to improve our social media outreach
