Volunteer: Help With After School Art ClassesAbout us We believe in using curriculum to create change, and thus we offer exceptional visual art curricula that provides outlets for young learners to develop and express their individuality while expanding their knowledge of the world and the diverse group of people they share it with. Within our projects we offer resources to connect literacy and social studies content, often offer video tutorials, and connect to contemporary as well as classic artworks. This increases the perceived value of art education and encourages use by schools that might not value art for art's sake. We design our impactful lessons for educators of all backgrounds, even those who are not formally trained art teachers, to ensure that this art program is accessible even to schools without an established art program or teacher. Our 'home-base' is in Ann Arbor, where we develop and test curricula in workshops and classes. Description: Volunteers will be matched with the lead teacher and support the after-school programming on our last week of class. This opportunity is to help teachers on the final day of class. Most schools end the week of May 20th, but exact end dates vary depending on the school times are from 3:30-5:30. Volunteers will assist the lead teacher by recording student testimonials of the final day of camp. The teacher may also have volunteers take photographs and/or help with supply distribution clean up as needed. Volunteers will work directly with students, helping them to realize and document their unique creative vision. Spring After School Curriculum: Animal ARTventures 1st-5th grade Requirements: All volunteers would need to have a background check run with the AAPS.
