Hello and welcome to the Detroit VITALS (Virtual Intersystem Telemedicine And Lifestyle Services) project!  

We are working with our planning committee to begin possibly the first ever Telemedicine based (online only) free clinic  and are looking for anyone interested in helping! We are looking to get the clinic operational by the end of the winter of 2022 and are looking for volunteers to help us make this a reality.

We will continue to be holding weekly meetings at Wednesday evenings on Zoom to create content and plan for the grand opening of the Detroit VITALS free telemedicine clinic!  General planning committee meetings will be one hour per week and members will be expected hour contributions are 3-5 hours per week on average currently with select committees (Networking, Educational Content, Workflow, Social Media, Website development, Advertising and Human resources/volunteer management).  

We are looking for anyone interested in assisting in helping plan out and develop plans/strategies for the new clinic as we get the clinic off the ground (goal Winter of 2022).

We are a small, faith-based non-profit working to alleviate severe acute malnutrition— and address some of the causes that lead to it— in the country of Haiti. We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Social Media/Marketing intern who can help us communicate and connect with our donor base, which is primarily in the U.S. This position will be fully remote and can be done from anywhere that has reliable internet access. Hours are flexible (you can work on your own schedule), but ideally we’re looking for a commitment of 5-10 hours per week for a minimum of 3 months. .

As a nonprofit organization working internationally, most of our donors will never have the opportunity to see our mission in person, so it’s vitally important to make sure that our supporters are involved and kept up to date on what is happening on the ground in Haiti. Social media has become our main form of communication with our donors to share stories and raise money to fund our programs. We have a very active social media calendar with multiple campaigns throughout the year and several monthly newsletters and emails to plan and design. 

As a Social Media Marketing intern for Middle Ground, you will get to have your hands in multiple exciting projects that make a direct and lasting impact on the lives of the children and families we work withs. Although the day-to-day work you will do does not take place on the ground in Haiti, the result of this role is truly the backbone of our ability to fund and run our programs. It is only with the support that comes from a strong and engaging social media presence thatwe can offer programs that truly save lives and change the future of countless children and their families in Haiti.

As a Social Media Marketing intern, you will work closely with our staff in Haiti to create social media content that shares the stories of children and families in our programs. You will also have a role in planning and gathering information for newsletters, and assisting in brainstorming and executing new and exciting fundraising initiatives. Your core responsibilities are well scheduled, but you will have opportunities to do something different nearly every day as you dive into our various programs and events!

The Area Agency on Aging 1-B (AAA 1-B) Caregiver Coaching Program is a free program that provides mentorship and support for family caregivers. We match people who are caring for an aging or disabled loved one with a compassionate, trained volunteer for one-to-one support. Coaches help identify needs and obstacles, explore and select options, offer encouragement, and strive to build a safe and supportive environment.  

  The program is designed to meet the needs of caregivers. There is no requirement for a certain number of communications or a specified structure or timeline. Caregivers typically speak with coaches twice a month over the phone, but every caregiver's needs are different. Coaches schedule calls in collaboration with their caregivers. 

 The AAA 1-B is actively seeking volunteers to enroll as Caregiver Coaches, as well as caregivers interested in participating in the program. Enclosed are Caregiver Coaching program flyers for you to share with your congregation members, program participants, community members, and/or their families.

Our website (www.arcservices.org) was recently re-done. Some support is needed to fix webhooks, ensure integration with plugins and other external apps are functioning properly, Anti-spam is set, and general clean up. The website was created by someone with minimal experience in website creation, but website is fully functioning and creator would love to work alongside volunteer.

WTPOF is looking for an individual who has experience and managing social media accounts and can implement our social media content strategy with minimal supervision in a remote capacity. Ideally, this same individual also has experience in updating and maintaining a WordPress website and can provide intermittent support integrating/maintaining plug-ins and overall design.

WTPOF is a dynamic grassroots organization and these skills are a vital to our growth and continued success! 

The Women's Center, an independent counseling nonprofit, could use help with internet technology and security.

Currently, we're installing, upgrading, connecting, and coding everything ourselves. We know that there are better ways to do it, but lack time to master the necessary skills.

We know that you could do it faster and better!

We could use help with everything from setting up a secure WiFi booster (not even sure that's what the thingamajig is called!) to updating WordPress PHP to figuring out why our printer drivers won't talk to us.

The Family Learning Institute (FLI) is seeking adult volunteer tutors  to work with students in grades 2 - 5.

FLI tutoring happens both in-person and virtual, with on-line Zoom meetings and Google classroom curriculum.

Tutoring happens for at least one hour, each week, after school. The commitment begins in October and ends in May.

- It is nearly a full school year.

Every year, FLI helps elementary school students improve their reading comprehension and critical thinking.

Students are from economically disadvantaged households in Washtenaw County.

The key is individualized tutoring.   Volunteer tutors provide the students with individual attention and a mentor type relationship.

FLI tutoring focuses on building academic skills.  FLI programs meet weekly during the school year.

Students are enrolled by referral from educators and parents. FLI also provides academic tutoring for local summer programs. 

Holidays and days off follow the Ann Arbor Public School calendar.

FLI Tutoring programs improve literacy for economically challenged, academically-struggling, Washtenaw County,

students in 2nd-5th grades.

FLI believes students can develop the skills that they need to build the lives they dream. 

The Area Agency on Aging 1-B (AAA 1-B) launched the Caregiver Coaching program in Livingston and Washtenaw counties in 2020. In 2021, the program expanded into Macomb and Oakland counties in 2021. Caregiver Coaching is a free program that matches people caring for an aging or disabled loved one with a compassionate, trained volunteer who works with them one-on-one.  Depending on the caregivers' needs, volunteer coaches can be guides, sounding boards, researchers, cheerleaders, encouragers, calmer-downers, or lifter-uppers. The volunteer coaches strive to build a safe and supportive environment where they walk beside you on the caregiving journey.

The program is built around caregivers' needs. There is no minimum number of communications required and no specific structure or schedule.  Typically, you will meet with your coach over the phone once a month, but every caregiver has different needs. Some caregivers want someone to talk to regularly, while others want support in creating to-dos or sorting through resource lists. There is no right or wrong way. The coaches are here to support you.

Hello, we are looking to get some volunteers to help us with our Pride Decides work. We have recently been given a grant that allows us to make 40,000 calls in the next two weeks! The granter has provided us with a simple and easy to use web app that allows anyone to participate from their computer.

The web app auto dials the numbers and the script is easy to view and perform. It is a simple way to get any volunteer hours that you need.

Since 1994, LGBT Detroit has a significant history in voter engagement. Candidate forums (Mayoral, Gubernatorial and State Congressional), voter registration drives and voter education events have largely occurred during LGBT Detroit’s annual 25 year old flagship gay, pride project Hotter Than July. As Detroit looks towards the upcoming local election cycle in the fall, LGBT Detroit continues the non-partisan comprehensive voter engagement and legislative program, Pride Decides. Piloted during the previous national election cycle, LGBT Detroit partnered with and was supported by Michigan Voices, ACLU of Michigan, Planned Parenthood of Michigan, and Black Voters Matter. In zip codes 48221 and 48235, the program made over 60,000 voter contacts in the summer and fall of 2020 to ensure voters were educated on how they could participate in the general election. The program was so successful that a note of thanks was sent to the agency from President Joe Biden for the work completed during the election cycle. In 2021 Pride Decides aims to re-engage voters in the upcoming City of Detroit local elections. Within the COVID-19 pandemic, activities for the program will be a hybrid of virtual and in person activities. Core activities include voter education, voter registration, phone banking, and the practice of ensuring voter participation in any election.

ENGin is looking for volunteers aged 15-22 to serve as speaking buddies for international students. This is a super-flexible and unique opportunity to make a difference without leaving your room. Plus, you'll get to know peers across the world!

Here's how it works: we will pair you up with a Ukrainian student to video chat each week at times that are convenient for you. We match students and volunteers based on age, gender preference, interests, and schedules. NPower creates pathways to economic prosperity by launching digital careers for military veterans and young adults from underserved communities.

NPower's programming is completely free to trainees and consists of 16 weeks of in-classroom sessions (currently virtual), followed by a 7-week paid internship in a relevant field. Life Remodeled is proud to lock-arms with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit, who is partnering with Durfee Elementary-Middle School to launch a mentoring program with Durfee students this fall, and we want you to become a mentor.

Each adult mentor will be matched with one student for 12 months. “Matches” will meet weekly at a time that works with your schedule. At first, volunteering will be done entirely virtual, but then transition to face-to-face when appropriate.

During meetings, matches will engage in conversation and activities that will encourage strong relationships, positive youth development and help students build 21st Century Skills.

As a developing non-profit, we are looking for someone who can help us brainstorm around experiences that tie into middle school curriculum. We provide the planning template; we just need your ideas! Responsibilities include finding field trip locations around Metro Detroit; writing reflection questions to connect field trips to curriculum; and contacting locations to inquire about logistics around field trips.

As a grant writer, you would be responsible for co-creating a bank of possible grants to apply for and working with other ImmersEd volunteers on writing them by their deadline. 

We are looking for someone who is passionate about our mission and who can bring that mission to light through their writing. We are flexible with scheduling, in terms of the hours of the day worked (pick your own schedule!) and the number of hours per week.

MADD Michigan is looking to build our Peer Support Program. A program dedicated to serving Victims and Survivors by Victims and Survivors. Life is forever changed after an impaired driving crash. Victims/survivors are often left bereaved, injured and financially devastated. With the emotional, financial and legal issues they face on a daily basis, victims/survivors need support to confront the challenges that lie ahead. Volunteer peer supporters are responsible for providing direct victim services to victims/survivors of impaired driving by way of one-on-one interaction. Volunteer peer supporters do not conduct therapy or counseling. Rather, they provide a unique partnership to effectively cope with the stressors associated with bereavement issues and/or injury trauma.

We are always in need of new volunteers who are dedicated to assisting Victim Services staff as well as Victims and Survivors. There are victim services volunteer opportunities for all skill levels, from a few hours a month to 10 hours a week. There are activities that can be done at home, and out and about in your community. All of the activities that are listed below are dedicated to assisting those who have lost or have had loved ones harmed due to drunk and or drugged driving. 

Community Awareness and Outreach: Contact or help staff connect with Police Stations, Hospitals, Courts, Counseling Centers, Schools, etc. to share information, do presentations, or have meetings about MADD’s Victim Services in hopes to gain support and referrals. Attend community fairs and/or events to spread awareness of MADD’s Victim Services.

Hotline: Provide effective and timely telephone and/or e-mail assistance to victims/survivors of impaired driving who contact MADD for services. Assess victims/survivors’ needs for emotional support, information, and referrals, implementing beneficial interventions based upon the assessment of needs. Provide connection between victims/survivors and MADD, ensuring continuum of service.

Peer Support: Assist other victims and survivors by building and nurturing relationships between or among peers that assist individuals along their journeys of grief, injury recovery and personal emotional, physical, and spiritual wellness. Be connected to victims and survivors with similar crashes to yours to assist and bring them comfort.

Staff Assistance: Help research drunk and drugged driving crashes and send search results to staff. Keep community resources up to date for victims and survivors. Help with research on ways to help spread awareness of MADD’s Victim Services.

Victim Advocate: Provide crisis intervention, emotional support, practical guidance, community resources. Provide advocacy to victims/survivors by assisting in the protection of victims/survivors’ rights, facilitating in the exercising of rights and providing education about the criminal and civil justice processes.

Work to strengthen existing laws and pass new ones. We can get you started by contacting your legislators. Help plan lobby days and meet with government officials. 

MADD Michigan is currently working to get volunteers, victims, and survivors engaged in passing an All Offender Ignition Interlock Law. An ignition interlock is a device about the size of a cell phone that is wired into the ignition system of a vehicle.  A convicted drunk driver must blow into the device in order to start their vehicle.  If they have a measurable amount of alcohol in their system, the vehicle will not start. 34 states and Washington DC have passed this law already, and Michigan has not passed the law, it is currently sitting in the Michigan House of Representatives; House Bills 4420 and 4421. Public Policy volunteers would assist staff by engaging the public and legislators through educating them on the law. Public Policy volunteers also spread awareness of MADD’s legislative agenda throughout their communities, and communicate MADD’s legislative agenda to their legislators and encourage legislators and community leaders to support MADD’s legislative priorities.
