Food Pantry Assistant manages the daily operations of a food pantry, including coordinating food acquisition, managing inventory, distributing food to clients, and ensuring compliance with food safety and program guidelines. This role involves direct client interaction, administrative tasks like data entry and reporting, and collaborating with donors and other organizations to support community members facing food insecurity.

Casa Amiga is looking for tutors interested in helping students finish their GED. Volunteers help us prepare for our monthly pregnancy and infant loss support group meetings. Support includes setting up tables and chairs, preparing materials for activities, and welcoming participants as they arrive and check in.

This opportunity requires about two and a half hours of volunteer time one Saturday each month. It’s a great way to support grieving parents by helping us create a welcoming and organized space for the meetings.

Join Habitat for Humanity of Huron Valley for hands-on community revitalization that brings volunteers, residents and local partners together to complete exterior home repairs and neighborhood cleanup projects in our partner neighborhood, Sugarbrook, on Friday, October 23rd!

Typical tasks include cleaning gutters, installing gutter guards, replacing downspout extensions, painting, trimming hedges & trees, planting flowers, spreading dirt & mulch, weeding & yard clean up, and other minor exterior improvements. Further details and the meeting location will be emailed the week of the volunteer activity.

Volunteers ages 14+ are welcome. Those under the age of 18 must complete a minor waiver with a legal guardian and be accompanied by an adult while on site.

Volunteers help keep our largest annual fundraiser running smoothly from morning registration through the closing dinner. Roles include check-in and registration, staffing hole contests and beverage stations on the course, supporting the raffle and auction, and assisting with lunch and dinner setup and breakdown. Volunteers spend the day outdoors, meet event sponsors, and see firsthand how the day's fundraising fuels housing and services for survivors in our care.

Volunteers help bring an elegant evening of hope and celebration to life as we gather to support survivors of trafficking rebuilding their lives in Detroit. Roles include guest check-in and registration, greeting and directing attendees, supporting the paddle auction, assisting the bar and catering staff, and helping with event setup and breakdown. It's a rewarding way to be part of our signature fundraiser and connect with the donors and community members who make our mission possible. Elegant cocktail attire requested.

Volunteer at our Habitat ReStore, located in West Ann Arbor! ReStore volunteers assist staff with customer service, including moving donated products to the sales floor, helping unload and load products for customers and various tasks as needed. Volunteers must be 16 years old or older. Volunteer opportunities are available Tuesday through Saturday, 10 AM to 6 PM, for shifts as short as 2 hours or as long as 8 hours, with flexibility based on your personal schedule.

We’re recruiting Virtual and In-Person Literacy Mentors!

Our Mentor Family is the foundation of our organization. Our team works closely alongside you to ensure that we support the bright futures of our students. The Center for Success Network is looking for people who love children and have a willingness to share time and joy with our staff and students as a valuable Literacy Mentor. 

Requirements:
- 1 Hour Mentor Training Video
- Half Hour Mentoring for Equity Video
- Minimum commitment of one session weekly through the full program year
- Service commitment through the entire Academic School Year (October- May)
- A Background Check
- 18 years old or under individuals are also eligible to become mentors, but must have 2 non-family references instead 

Sessions are literacy focused and include time to build relationships with their students. Mentoring sessions will be 45 minutes-hour long for virtual sessions and 1 hour for in-person sessions. These sessions will include 4 parts: energize and goal setting, reading a book, literacy activity, and closing and reflection. Our experienced staff are present the entire session in case a mentor has a question or needs some assistance.

Friendship Circle’s Lessons for Life Program is an evidence-based experiential life skill learning program that bridges the gap between classroom learning and real-world experience. The program equips K–12 special education students with practical life skills that build independence, increase confidence, and support successful transitions into adulthood. Through hands-on learning, students practice functional skills they can apply at school, home, work, and in their communities. The program is held at Friendship Circle in a realistic village setting that includes a bank, cafe, library, theater, pet shop, and much more! Position Overview

The Intern will lead the development of a new Teen Beyond the Books program, expanding Community Action Network's successful Beyond the Books elementary literacy initiative to better engage middle and high school youth. Working alongside staff, the intern will research culturally responsive young adult literature, identify age-appropriate discussion topics, and develop a comprehensive curriculum that encourages literacy, critical thinking, and social-emotional learning. The intern will create lesson plans, discussion guides, interactive activities, and evaluation tools while helping pilot selected lessons with youth. They will also gather feedback from participants and staff to refine the curriculum and produce a complete, sustainable program that can be implemented across CAN's after-school sites and adapted for future semesters.

As time allows, the intern may assist with literacy-related program evaluation, organize curriculum and resource materials, support volunteer training related to Beyond the Books, help collect youth feedback, assist with special literacy events, and contribute to resource development for family engagement activities. The intern may also assist with researching grants and community partnerships that support literacy programming.

They will research program evaluation practices and help develop an evaluation plan, assist with implementing Paycor and strengthening HR systems, and support communications planning and projects that require coordination across program, operations, and communications teams. The intern will also gain hands-on experience supporting field trip workshops, analyzing participant survey feedback, and contributing to administrative projects that help the organization operate more effectively.

This internship is sponsored by the Community-Based Internship Fund at U-M’s Ginsberg Center. As part of this internship, you will complete training and advising with Ginsberg Center staff to support professional development.

Hope Clinic's Walk-up Groceries allow clients to get produce, flowers, and a few shelf-stable foods each week without a scheduled appointment. The first 30ish minutes of each shift is the busiest, but things quiet down significantly after that.

Our Monday shift is a great way to test the waters if you are a first-time volunteer at the Farm Stand, but our greatest needs are for volunteers on Thursdays and Saturdays.

Lobby Runner volunteers should have ability to lift up to 30 pounds and to work on your feet for extended periods. However, there will also be down times when you might be able to read or do homework. Lobby Runner volunteer shifts are available Monday - Saturday. You will be provided access to an online scheduler system so you can simply sign up when it works for you - no recurring schedule commitment is necessary.

Hope Clinic serves hot meals 6 nights per week out of our commercial kitchen. To keep everything in working order, the grease traps (2 of them) need to be cleaned on a monthly basis. It is a smelly job, but extremely important!

It is that time of year again! If you LOVE Halloween come join us for our annual Trunk or Treat!

Every year, we make a fun and safe opportunity for HAVEN clients and families to dress up in their Halloween best and trick or treat!

Volunteers for this opportunity are being asked to decorate their trunk in a nonviolent Halloween theme, supply and pass out candy or small trinkets(please do not bring clothing items or personal hygiene items stick to fun Halloween things) to HAVEN's youth! This is a great family event that volunteers children may also join in the fun and trick or treat as well!

Internship Title: Program & Partnership Development Intern

United Way Community Fulfillment Center

The United Way Community Fulfillment Center envisions a community where community members have seamless access to basic everyday essentials that are appropriate and of great quality through providing brand-new clothing, housewares, electronics, food and beverages, cleaning supplies, and home and automotive hardware. This program solely relies on donations from agency partners to support low-income families, local non-profit organizations, faith-based institutions, and grassroot community organizations within Southeastern Michigan. 

Our amazing Community Fulfillment Center's storeroom needs a couple of volunteers to assist clients and partners, sort donations, restock shelves, and perform light data entry tasks. Staff is available to direct volunteers every Wednesday from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm. We greatly appreciate your consideration and support! 

Volunteers will work with our site manager to welcome and assist clients, load donations into vehicles, sort donations, restock the shelves, complete data entry, and create a positive client experience. In addition, volunteers work directly with clients providing them with the basic needs and personal care items they need to support families in an uplifting and hopeful context.  

Volunteers may also assist with physical improvements to the space, including painting.

We are excited to offer volunteers the opportunity to receive training in disaster relief efforts. These trainings will equip you with essential skills and knowledge to effectively assist communities in times of crisis. By participating, you will learn about emergency response strategies, resource distribution, and community support techniques. Join us in this rewarding experience and become a vital part of our mission to help those in need during challenging times. Together, we can make a difference!

The program also hosts additional annual distributions for families and non & for-profit organizations, including perishable and non-perishables, brand-new clothing, houseware, electronics, beverages, cleaning supplies, household appliances, automotive hardware, and holiday gifts.

We need advice for a tech project concerning an app or webpage or online form. Our Day Center volunteers need a way to sign up online for their shifts, then sign in, and when they sign out they need to add a message. We then need to collect the data and make monthly and annual reports. We are using Microsoft 365, so the app/webpage can be hosted on our secure OneDrive. We are looking for someone who can give us advice on how to make a free system that meets all our requirements. We need them knowledgeable enough to know what skills are needed to create the desired app/webpage. After this project is done, there are a few other tech questions regarding Microsoft products.

About Us: Voce Velata is a youth-led chamber ensemble that studies and performs works by composers that identify as Black, Indigenous, People of Color, and women or non-binary. Voce collaborates with other youth arts organizations, museums, and music collectives to take their music into non-traditional spaces. Justice standards guide their lines of inquiry and multi-media presentations.

Position Overview

The Storyteller and Media Curator will work closely with Voce Velata’s Education Director and core youth members to produce and share multimedia content that documents and amplifies Voce Velata’s work, including attending rehearsals and performances to film, photograph, interview, and capture the creative process. The fellow will help transform these materials into accessible and engaging media such as mini-documentaries and music videos, while also supporting longer-term communications planning, website development, organization and editing of existing media and research assets, and the creation of an interactive experience that reflects Voce Velata’s live engagement strategies. They will also co-create a 6–12 month dissemination plan for produced media and, time permitting, assist with impact-measurement tools and narrative development, including speeches, program notes, and other audience-contextualization materials.

This internship is sponsored by the Community-Based Internship Fund at U-M’s Ginsberg Center. As part of this internship, you will complete training and advising with Ginsberg Center staff to support professional development.

Fish & Loaves is a non-profit organization serving Downriver and Wayne County with our client choice pantry. Our pantry serves over 25,000 households each year. To lower our food costs, we welcome businesses, churches, school groups, and other organizations to host community food drives.

Dedicated volunteers are needed on a weekly basis to support our warehouse operations and help us distribute food to our neighbors who need it.

Responsibilities include:

We welcome any quantity of non-religious cards or placemats with simple, uplifting greetings; below are some example messages. We appreciate if cards come without envelopes and are unsigned (we add a note that they are from a caring community member). Once received, they will be sent out to clients with their meal deliveries.  

Due to the diversity of our clientele, Ann Arbor Meals on Wheels typically steers away from phrases such as "I love you, you are loved, hugs, kisses, etc." on cards/placemats. Sentiments of kindness, care, positive humor, and joy are welcomed and appreciated!

Donations can be mailed or dropped off in the purple container in the foyer of our office between 8-11am and 12-4pm Monday through Saturday.      

Meal delivery volunteers serve a critical role in our program and in the lives of our neighbors who are homebound due to their health status. Volunteers choose the day (Monday-Saturday) and frequency (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, substitute) for volunteering. Meals are picked up by volunteers at the Ann Arbor Meals on Wheels office at 11:30am, and routes typically take 1-2 hours to complete.

AAMOW has a personal care items pantry that clients can access free of charge, and items are delivered with their meals. Donations of the following items for the pantry are being sought on an ongoing basis:

AAMOW welcomes any quantity of non-religious cards or placemats with simple, uplifting greetings. Below are some example messages. We appreciate if cards come without envelopes and are unsigned (we add a note that they are from a caring community member). Once received, they will be sent out to clients with their meal deliveries.  

Due to the diversity of our clientele, Ann Arbor Meals on Wheels typically steers away from phrases such as "I love you, you are loved, hugs, kisses, etc." on cards/placemats. However, sentiments of kindness, care, positive humor, and joy are welcomed and appreciated!

Cards, placemats, and new/unused personal care/pantry donations can be mailed or dropped off in the purple container in the foyer of our office between 8-11am and 12-4pm Monday through Saturday.     

Meal delivery volunteers serve a critical role in our program and in the lives of our neighbors who are homebound due to their health status. Volunteers choose the day (Monday-Saturday) and frequency (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, substitute) for volunteering. Meals are picked up by volunteers at the Ann Arbor Meals on Wheels office at 11:30am, and routes typically take 1-2 hours to complete.

I'm still trying to assist Andrea Mitcham and her daughter April in finding Wheel Chair Accessible Van. If you have any resources that may  assist a Veteran, any grants or Car Dealers with reasonable prices or special financing  for Veterans.

Andrea Mitcham is still  in need of Wheel Chair Accessible Van. If you have resources/ programs that would help her  ( Veteran) assist in purchasing a Van for a well needed for her daughter. The Van will also elevate the stress of getting her back and forth to school, doctor's appointment, competions and afterschool programs.

Bio for Andrea Mitcham & April Shaw Andrea Mitcham is an Honorably Discharged United States Army Veteran and a widowed, low-income single mother devoted to raising her two daughters. After completing her military service, Andrea continued her commitment to public service by working 11 years with the 3rd Circuit Court. During her pregnancy with her youngest daughter, April, Andrea unexpectedly lost her job—an event that would both challenge and ultimately reshape her life. Andrea became a full-time caregiver when April was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 2, a rare neuromuscular disease that causes profound muscle weakness and limits nearly every physical function. Doctors warned Andrea not to plan for milestones like college, but instead to prepare for the worst. Despite this devastating prognosis, Andrea remained steadfast in her love, advocacy, and determination to provide April with the fullest, happiest life possible. --- April Shaw, lovingly known as Princess April, is an exceptionally social, outgoing, and joyful 15-year-old 10th grader whose positivity shines despite the challenges of SMA Type 2. April has never been able to crawl, stand, or perform basic daily tasks independently—such as dressing, bathing, or using the restroom—and relies entirely on her wheelchair and her mother’s care. SMA also affects her breathing and swallowing, making even common illnesses dangerous and often requiring week-long hospital stays. Yet April refuses to let her condition limit her spirit or her dreams. A natural leader and compassionate role model, April has been a beacon of hope and inspiration from a very young age. She was crowned Little Miss Wheelchair Michigan in both 2017 and 2018, served as a 2018 Child Ambassador for Easter Seals, and played baseball with the Miracle League of Michigan, even throwing the opening pitch at a Detroit Tigers game in July 2019. She has been featured on WDIV Channel 7’s Ann Marie’s All-Stars and has proudly served as a Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Child Ambassador since 2019, marking six years of continued service. Her message is simple but powerful: she believes deeply in friendship, love, and harmony. --- For many years, a wheelchair-accessible minivan allowed April to attend school events, participate in activities, enjoy time with friends, and experience the world with independence. Without accessible transportation, April has lost far more than mobility—she has lost her independence and the opportunities other teenagers take for granted, such as going to the movies, visiting friends, attending study groups, or even learning to drive alongside her peers. A dependable, used wheelchair-accessible van can cost $25,000 to $75,000, often requiring a car payment that Andrea simply cannot afford. In addition to forensic interviews and therapy services, CARE House of Oakland County offers ongoing support through programs such as our Family Support Group (FSG) and Nurturing Parent Program (NPP). What is CARE House of Oakland County? We are the sole Child Advocacy Center serving children and families in Oakland County, MI who have experienced abuse and neglect. Elms Family and Community Services (EFCS) is seeking guest speakers and facilitators to support its events and program workshop (e.g. career, STEM, financial literacy, health/wellness, etc.) areas in the community.  This is a volunteer (unpaid) role. 

EFCS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, located in Macomb County, Michigan.  We service youth, families and individuals in Wayne/Macomb County and the surrounding community. We aim continuously to provide services, resources and support that will enable under-represented families, individuals and youth to overcome social, economic, educational and other barriers in which they face by gaining and sustaining successful outcomes in life. We do this through our support services, programs and community projects.

Summary of Role: The Events & Workshops facilitator/guest speaker assists in facilitating program topics for health/wellness, financial literacy, educational and/or career activities at schools, libraries, and community centers in the  Wayne/Macomb County, and surrounding communities.

As a Farmers Market Volunteer, you’ll assist with a variety of tasks, including working at the info booth, helping with customer counts, and supporting the smooth operation of the market. Junior Achievement’s mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. With the generous help of volunteers, JA provides educational programs to students in grades K-12 in the areas of financial literacy, workforce readiness, and entrepreneurship. The curriculum in each of JA’s 23 programs is correlated to the state education standards. JA programs will impact over 50,000 students this school year. 

JA Finance Park® is a program that teaches youth about personal finance and careers. In the classroom, teachers guide youth through the lessons around key concepts. The program ends with a visit to JA Finance Park, facilitated by JA staff, where youth work with volunteers to create and manage a personal budget, experiencing what it's like to be an adult for a day. This is a great opportunity for individual and corporate volunteers.

Volunteer Training is the day of the event at 8:30 AM one hour prior to arrival of participants. Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Earthworks! We are seeking dependable individuals to assist us with various tasks to help us maintain our gardens. Volunteers help with weeding, harvesting, garden bed prepping, planting and general garden maintenance.

The type of volunteer work we have may depend on many variables such as the time of year, weather, size, and age of the group or otherwise. As such, it's difficult to share what exactly volunteers will be doing on a particular date.

In general, some of those things may include:

In other words, manual labor that includes lifting, kneeling, crouching, bending, twisting, turning, shoveling, raking, etc. Caution may be required when working or walking on ground that is loose, uneven or slippery.

Volunteering at Earthworks is a great way to help our cause of growing food sustainably for our community, as well as, restore our connection to the environment. It is also a way for you to learn new skills, meet new people and make a difference.

We are hosting volunteers Wednesday - Friday from 9 am - 11 am and 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm.

New volunteers that are interested in volunteering with Earthworks Urban Farm should register as a user via Volunteer Hub and when asked for affiliations should check "I am interested in Earthworks Urban Farm". First-time volunteers are not required to go through a background check. If you are approved to volunteer again, you would be able to schedule to volunteer.

We empower Metro Detroit high school students to overcome obstacles and achieve their career goals.  Career Mentors are volunteers who attend one-hour sessions with students, providing them with encouragement and support while helping them learn the day's lesson. 

The Detroit Zoo is recruiting adult volunteers ages 18 and older to help with a variety of assignments. Volunteers must complete an application with background check, attend orientation and then complete the appropriate training for their chosen assignment. We are looking for enthusiastic, customer-focused individuals with a love of animals, nature and people. Some assignments require a commitment of as little as 20 hours per year while others require 50 hours. Scheduling is flexible. Weekday, weekend and some limited evening hours are available.

Volunteers do not handle or feed animals.

Do you love dogs? Looking for a way to give back while caring for a beautiful female and puppies? This might be the opportunity for you!

We breed Labrador retrievers, Golden retrievers, and Lab/Golden crosses to be guide dogs for people who are blind or low vision. We are looking for homes to host both female and male breeders for the duration of their breeding careers. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and will bear the legal responsibility for the host dog. However, families can have children participate in the care of the dog to share in this rewarding experience!

Hosting requires a significant time commitment, physical strength, and the ability to travel to our campus in Rochester Hills, MI several times a year. Dogs are 12-15 months of age when placed in a home. Females retired from our program by the time they are 4-5 years of age, but males can continue in the program until they are approximately 9 years old. Both are then adoptable by the host home when their breeding careers are over! Volunteers must live within 6 hours of our campus in Rochester Hills, MI, and have no more than 2 vaccinated, spay/neutered pet dogs in your home.

We have two primary driver roles that we need assistance with,

1) our blood delivery drivers are needed to take blood products to local hospitals. Blood is presented to our drivers in coolers and then our volunteer would receive instructions to where and when the blood needs to be given to the hospitals.

2) Scheduled longer distance runs to receive products from other centers and/or states. This position is of longer duration, so would be ideal for someone who loves to drive on highways.

What Is Ele's Place?

Ele's Place is a healing center for grieving children, teens, young adults, and their families. Each week, peer-to-peer bereavement support groups help hundreds learn to cope and begin to heal after the death of a parent, sibling, or someone close to them. 

What Do Support Groups Look Like?

Groups vary from week to week depending on the needs and interests of group members. Volunteers choose from a database of activities, which include scripts and supplies provided by Ele's Place. Activities may include:

Raise a puppy that can change two lives, yours and someone who is blind!

Puppy raisers take a puppy into their home and raise it for a specific period of time. While in the home, with the guidance of Leader Dog staff and specially trained volunteers, you will be training the puppy in basic house manners, commands and exposing it to new environments in a safe manner. Once the raising period is over, the puppy returns to Leader Dog to start its formal guide dog training. 

Puppy Raising Options

Since no two households are alike, we’ve created multiple puppy-raising opportunities to fit different lifestyles. Which option is right for you?

One Household

It’s the traditional way to puppy-raise and perfect for families, college students, active
singles, retired couples and empty nesters. Usually, the puppy is picked up at 8 weeks and is raised in the home for 12-14 months.

Co-Raising (Primary and Secondary Raiser)

This option is for someone who wants to share duties with a person from another household.

Pass-Along

One raiser has the puppy for the first six months, and a second raiser has the puppy for the next six months.

Corporate

Employees can raise puppies individually or in teams of up to three.

Building a DIY Learning at Home Kit is a great way to ensure families have important educational items to fuel learning from home. We encourage you to get your friends and neighbors involved in building these kits!

Supplies Needed:
• Sturdy container such as a cardboard box, plastic bin, or drawstring bag (one per kit).
• Please include a minimum of three flash card sets and two other items from the list below.

FLASH CARDS (age/grade indicated on box)
• Letters
• Sight words
• Phonics
• Addition
• Subtraction
• Time/money
• Any flash cards that are math/literacy focused

WORKBOOKS
• Coloring books focused on animals, shapes, colors, letters, etc.
• Workbooks with games, learning exercises, letter tracing

BOOKS
• Children’s books focused on activities, vocabulary, friendship and learning

LEARNING GAMES
• Go Fish, matching games
• Blocks, puzzles
• Stringing beads, glue sticks, play dough

OTHER LITERACY TOOLS/MISC.
• Mini dry erase board with marker
• Small plastic bin to store items in
• Sketch/drawing pad
• Crayons

Please note that one kit can range greatly in price depending on where the items are purchased and in what quantity. The average range in cost per kit is $10-$30. Please note that some items may be available at dollar or discount stores. 

Considerations for Buying Materials:
• When you shop for materials, please keep in mind that children who receive kits come from a variety of backgrounds and demographics. It’s important to pick materials that celebrate and showcase a variety of races, ethnicities, genders, abilities, statuses, and family makeups to ensure children can see themselves and their peers represented in the materials.
• Provide materials in multiple languages. You could create a kit completely in another language or mix two languages into one kit.
• Languages most needed: English, Spanish, Arabic. (If you create kits in languages other than English, please let United Way staff know so that they can match you with an appropriate agency.)

How to Build Your Kit:
• Select your box/bin/bag plus a minimum of three flash card sets and two additional items from the above list to put in the kit.
• Collect or purchase the items. They must be new or never opened.
• Build a minimum of five kits.

Host a Drive:
• Involve your friends, family and neighbors in your volunteer efforts! Instead of purchasing items alone, host a virtual or in-person item drive. Coordinate a time and place to have the items dropped off or one location to have online purchases shipped. Be sure to set a goal of how many kits you want to complete together!

Delivery Information:
• Once you sign up (select RESPOND), we will share delivery information with you within a few days. All kits will go to local
nonprofit agencies.

Share Your Progress:
Don’t forget to take pictures of your progress and final products before delivery! Share on social media with #UWVolunteer or #LiveUnited and tag us @UnitedWaySEM.

Elms Family and Community Services (EFCS) is recruiting for its Human Resources Intern role. This is an unpaid volunteer position. EFCS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, located in Clinton Township, Michigan. We service youth, families and individuals in Macomb/Wayne counties and surrounding areas.  The organization strives to improve the quality of life for youth, adults, and families in low-income and ALICE household through equitable access to services, resources, and supportive programs.

Summary of Role 

The EFCS Human Resources Intern provides human resource support to the Office of the President and supports the President/CEO of the organization.

The Human Resources intern will have both administrative and strategic responsibilities, and will help with important functions such as staffing, training and development, and compensation and benefits.

Duties and Responsibilities

Commitment: 10-15 hours weekly for one school semester.

Successful candidates must complete a level 2 background check, which is at no cost to volunteers.

Volunteer at Chefs in the Garden – Sept. 27, 2026

Growing Hope is thrilled to announce the return of our beloved Chefs in the Garden fundraiser, happening on Sunday, September 27th at the Growing Hope Urban Farm in Ypsilanti. Beginning at 5:00 PM, this special evening features a locally sourced, farm-to-table meal and raises vital support for our work to strengthen the local food system.

This year, we are honored to feature Chef Bob Bennett.

The evening will include a silent auction and live entertainment to round out an unforgettable night among the food and flowers at the Growing Hope Urban Farm. 

Volunteer Roles Include:

Assisting the chef and kitchen staff

Greeting and checking in guests

Passing appetizers

Serving drinks and plated meals

Bussing tables and washing dishes

Event breakdown and cleanup

Volunteers will enjoy a lively evening filled with smiling faces and happy bellies—and yes, you’ll get to taste the incredible food! Come join us for a joyful night of service, community, and celebration.

Volunteers are needed during the following time slots:

Prep and set up (Fast paced, and involves some heavy lifting)
8:30am - 8:45am       Assist with set up of tables
9:00am - 9:30am       Unload food from delivery drivers
9:00am - 10:00am     Sort, organize, and present grocery items on tables for community food distribution

10:00am - 12:00pm    Distribute shopping bags to visitors, assist guests with carrying groceries to their vehicles, maintain clean and organized food presentation, break down empty tables, and carry them to appropriate storage space, etc.   

12pm -2:00pm (Very light duty)  Monitor food tables, greet visitors, distribute grocery bags, maintain, organize and consolidate food tables.

For over 90 years, Foundations Preschool of Washtenaw County has been dedicated to ensuring equitable access to high-quality early childhood care and education for underserved and historically marginalized families. We provide free and reduced-cost childcare to ensure that quality early learning is accessible to all families, regardless of income.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

Provide children with one-on-one attention and support

Assist teachers during classroom activities and lessons

Engage with children through play, reading, and guided learning activities

Help create a warm, structured, and nurturing classroom environment

Time Commitment: To support consistency and structure for the children, we request that volunteers commit to a regular weekly schedule.

To help meet these needs, Foundations Preschool operates a weekly food support program that provides pantry staples, fresh produce, and optional take-home food boxes for families. Volunteers play a vital role in keeping this program running smoothly, and we are currently seeking long-term volunteers to help maintain and support our on-site food pantry. Their efforts directly improve family well-being and ensure children have the nutrition they need to learn and grow.
