We know that many of our community partners may have additional volunteering needs now and in the coming days.  Whether in direct response to COVID-19 or through other projects that could be done remotely, we want to help you recruit volunteers to support your emerging priorities.

We have set up additional "tagging"  capabilities for opportunities in response to COVID-19. You can now tag opportunities with COVID-19 Response under the "cluster" drop-down list and/or Remote Projects under the "interest" drop-down list. There is also a "COVID-19 Response" in the "Initiatives" dropdown, and a separate field where you can select "Yes" for "Is this a Virtual Opportunity?" We recommend selecting all tagging options that apply. All of these opportunities are then able to be grouped together to help direct volunteers to unfolding community needs from our portal as well as EMU's VolunteerConnection portal.

We also know that your organizations may have little bandwidth to post those opportunities yourselves. Please, feel free to email us at community-engagement@umich.edu with a link to where your urgent volunteer opportunity is already posted (or send a description), and we will post the opportunity for you.

Finally, we wanted to pass along recommendations on community mitigation strategies from the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services.

Please, let us know if you have any questions.

In partnership,
