Who We Are
Mission: To help young people (age 14-25) successfully transition from foster care to adulthood.
Our House is a non-profit organization in Washtenaw County who supports young people who have experienced foster care. Our vision is that they become successful, self-sufficient and can live independently with confidence.
What We Do
Our House is building a unique, integrated model to support youth typically lacking the experience of growing up with significant adults in their lives. Through individual and group mentoring, life skills training, camp retreats, employment training, and supportive housing options, Our House builds upon each component to help assure successful outcomes as youth transition to adulthood.
Participation in Our House programming is free and voluntary.
At the core of Our House is our Mentoring Program, which consists of 1:1 and team mentoring. One-to-one mentoring matches trained, screened volunteer mentors with Our House teens. Mentors commit to a multi-year relationship with the youth and provide one-on-one guidance to leverage educational, employment, economic, housing and community resources.
Be sure to check out Our House’s four areas of focus on our website: Education, Employment, Housing and Community.
