Who We Are

Mission: To advance the safety, independence, and economic stability of those most affected by poverty, racism, and other structurally oppressive systems by increasing access to justice and working for systemic solutions.

Legal Services of South Central Michigan (LSSCM) is a nonprofit law firm dedicated to providing free civil legal assistance to low-income individuals and seniors across 13 counties in south and central Michigan. With offices in Lansing, Ypsilanti, Battle Creek, Jackson, and Monroe, we are committed to ensuring equal access to justice for the region’s most vulnerable residents.

LSSCM is a division of the Michigan Advocacy Program.

What We Do

LSSCM focuses on urgent and life-impacting legal issues, including preventing homelessness, protecting survivors of domestic violence, and helping clients access healthcare, food, and income support. We provide legal representation in civil matters and advocate systemically to remove barriers that low-income individuals face. Our work also includes safeguarding the rights of the elderly and individuals with disabilities. Each year, we support hundreds of families in securing safety, stability, and the legal protections they deserve.
