Who We Are

Mission: To keep community inspiration alive through the preservation and programming of historic theaters.

Marquee Arts is a Michigan-based nonprofit committed to producing state of the art creative programming, unparalleled in diversity, quality and scope. Curators of film, theater and live entertainment, we proudly oversee the operations, upkeep and artistic direction of the State and Michigan theaters in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Our collective aim is to ignite inspiration in all of us through individual and shared experiences with art.

What We Do

Marquee Arts is the founding entity for Michigan’s Cinetopia Film Festival and curator of the always-on series of theater productions, Not Just For Kids. While both theaters serve as community hubs, the Michigan’s main auditorium hosts the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra, the University of Michigan’s University Musical Society, the Ann Arbor Concert Band, the Ark, Live Nation Worldwide and many more.

The Michigan Theater – The Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor stands as a historic landmark and cultural hub, enriching the community with its diverse array of film screenings, live performances, and special events. Originally built in 1928, its elegant architecture and ornate design continue to captivate visitors, offering a glimpse into the city’s rich heritage. As a cherished institution, the Michigan Theater remains a focal point for arts and entertainment, providing an unforgettable experience for patrons of all ages.

The State Theater – The State Theatre in Ann Arbor is an iconic venue renowned for its rich history and vibrant cultural contributions to the city. Originally opened in 1942, it has evolved into a cherished destination for film enthusiasts, offering a diverse selection of movies ranging from independent films to classic blockbusters. With its distinctive marquee and cozy interior, the State Theatre continues to enchant audiences and uphold its legacy as a cornerstone of Ann Arbor’s entertainment scene.
