Michigan Firehouse Museum & Education Center

Mission: To enhance the appreciation of firefighting history through engaging and informative exhibits, as well as to teach and promote fire safety.

The Michigan Firehouse Museum and Education Center was established as a 501c3 non-profit in 1998. Located in the historic district of Ypsilanti, MI, the museum features an original 1898 firehouse complete with bunk area and brass pole. A modern, multi-level exhibit area was constructed in 2002. The entire Museum encompasses a total area of over 26,000 square feet.

Our exhibits feature the history of fire fighting in the State of Michigan and the evolution of fire fighting technology. We actively collect Michigan firefighting equipment and related archival materials. Our collections include fire trucks, extinguishers, emblems, bells, hats, helmets, ladders, breathing apparatus, clothing, hose carts, nozzles, toy fire trucks, and more!
