We are A Place of Hope, an after-school program rooted in the legacy of New Hope Baptist Church, a congregation that has served Ann Arbor for nearly 60 years. Our church was founded by Rev. Dr. Albert J. Lightfoot, and today his granddaughter, Jaydaka Lightfoot (Administrative Secretary), continues that legacy by leading this program.
We are a community-driven initiative dedicated to nurturing young people through academic support, creative expression, and mentorship. Our goal is to provide a safe, welcoming environment where students can thrive, building confidence, character, and hope for their future.
What We Do
A Place of Hope is an afterschool program that aims to provide students with tutoring, homework help, mentoring, and enrichment activities, including creative writing, film/media production, and community service projects.
