Who We Are
Mission: To help individuals and revitalize communities by providing opportunities for growth, support, and transformation.
Redeem Detroit was founded by a group of individuals who grew up in the city and witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of drugs and poverty on their communities. Many of them experienced the challenges of growing up without strong role models, often in the absence of fathers due to the widespread issues caused by drugs. Despite these challenges, they persevered, pursuing education, military service, and careers in various fields such as education, engineering, criminal justice, and more. Their personal experiences inspired them to create Redeem Detroit, with the goal of giving back to the community by revitalizing neighborhoods and offering second chances to those facing similar struggles.
They serve at-risk youth (particularly young parents), homeless veterans, and returning citizens. Through this organization, Redeem Detroit aims to transform neighborhoods socially and economically.
What We Do
Redeem Detroit fulfills its mission by rehabilitating vacant properties and transforming them into valuable assets. The organization focuses on providing vocational training and job readiness programs to at-risk youth, homeless veterans, and returning citizens.
The organization offers services including personal development courses, academic resources, childcare, occupational training, housing assistance, transportation, and employment support. Their Project N.O.A.H. program specifically helps teen parents help their education by removing barriers to college enrollment and completion, offering services like study halls, tutoring, daycare, and life skills as well.
