Center for Success Network

Our mission is to unite community and literacy to empower students in their journey of education. Our vision is to vitalize the community's relationship with literacy, inspiring families to relate with literacy as a fundamental necessity. Our collaboratively rich programs ignite a passion for education that inspires students to thrive academically within safe spaces and learning structures. We pave the way for community contribution towards children’s lifelong love of learning through reading.
Our current programs and activities provide students and their families with substantial support for the sake of inspiring students with a lifelong love of literacy. Center for Success provides structured, literacy focused out-of-school learning programs for elementary-aged students. We provide transportation from school, meals during each session, and connection to a responsive community of staff, mentors, and enrichment partners. A supportive, literacy-rich environment identifies and celebrates strengths and creates opportunities for students to thrive academically. Partner enrichment programs integrate into sessions to provide lessons on cooking, robotics and engineering, architecture, music, and a variety of other youth identified topics. Through interventions specific to each learner, we support academic and literacy needs through relationships, exposure and goal setting. More than 500 trained and committed mentors engage in weekly sessions to deliver individualized lessons. During the COVID-19 crisis, programming has been translated to provide connection with our students over a variety of platforms. Students are engaged with weekly virtual content, mentoring, and interactive activities ranging from yoga to creative writing and riddles to read-alouds. Mentors and students engage remotely, and connect weekly to practice reading and complete customized literacy sessions. At-home learning kits containing books, literacy activities, STEM kits, art and craft materials, and seed kits have been distributed to our students as well.
