Who We Are
Conversations to Remember is a 501(c)(3) charity that works to combat feelings of isolation and loneliness among senior citizens. We work with senior citizens who are in assisted living communities, dementia care communities, nursing homes, and those who are home with a private caregiver. The senior citizens, as well as the students are from all across the United States. All volunteering is virtual.
What We Do
Conversations to Remember matches college students with senior citizens for weekly video calls to form intergenerational bonds. Two to three students engage in conversation each week with the same senior citizen for up to 1 hour. The video calls are scheduled for the same day and time each week, and students commit to a 1 hour time period. Many, though not all, of the seniors have Alzheimer's or another form of dementia. The students receive virtual training before joining a call as well as ongoing support.
